*I should be doing homework right now but I find this subject a little more important than the images and themes found in Oedipus.*
I am struggling with Christians right now. Not God by any means, I still believe in Him and love Him more than anything. However, my faith in fellow "Christians" is not something my heart is necessarily jumping for joy at right now.
Let me throw a couple questions out there for you to answer if you find yourself wanting to.
How, as "Christians", can we sit and complain about attending church/chapel everyday (or every week) and how much it "sucks" or how "boring" it is when we do not let ourselves give in to worshipping the Almighty One?
Why do we have our iPods in our ears singing along quietly to Christina Aguilera rather than singing loudly to our God above showing Him we DO actually care despite our actions?
We can just as easily go to church and worship Him just as easily as we go to a party and drink beer.
We can just as easily take communion just as easily as we can laugh about some guy who is singing Holy is the Lord a little bit too off key.
We can just as easily praise Jesus just as easily as we praise a football team.
We can just as easily proclaim our love for God to a non-believer just as easily as we shout praises to Taylor Swift or Barbie.
We can just as easily read our Bible just as easily as we read Seventeen magazine?
Need I go on?
I realize this makes me just as much of a hypocrite. I realize I have been one of the loudest complainers about chapel. I realize how much I have failed my God the past year. However, I also realize my faults, my hypocriticalness, my idiocy.
We need to stop complaining about chapel/church being boring and tedious when we are, in fact, the ones causing it to be that way. Maybe there are reasons why we have a Missions Minute. Why not show off someone who is actually doing God's will? I am sure they found some annoyances in the whole process but do you ever hear of them complaining? Not really. They are making the most of the life God gave them and WORSHIPPING Him. They are not sitting back being annoyed that the church isn't "hyphy" enough and listening to Rihanna.
My reason for this blog is not to throw stones, because who am I to condemn when I have done the same thing? My purpose of this blog is to bring up the matter of us "Christians" being selfish and thinking only of OUR wants and OURS desires and not our God's above.
I vote we all make an effort to find the meaning in the daily chapels and not to complain about church being so "boring". We need to get over those feelings.
*Jesus gave his life for us. Let's give Him twenty minutes a day. I mean, we are "Christians", right?*
